CMC supports the fight against COVID-19 in Vietnam

In June, following the break out of the fourth wave of Covid-19 with more complicated and unpredictable developments, CMC Corporation launched the campaign "CMC supports Vietnam against Covid-19 - Unite to Fight", including many meaningful activities such as: Encouraging staff to donate a day's salary; Organizing a blood donation day; Donating medical equipment and security surveillance camera systems at designated quarantine locations.

More than 3000 employees donated a day’s salary towards Vietnam's COVID-19 Vaccine Fund

Immediately after the Government of Vietnam called for the whole country to join hands in the prevention and control of Covid-19 and mobilized businesses, individuals, and benefactors to support, CMC encouraged its employees to participate in the program "Donate a day’s salary towards the Vietnam Covid-19 Vaccine fund”.

Accordingly, each staff will contribute one day of their salary to achieve the goal of donating 3 billion VND to support the above activities. With the number of Covid-19 infections increasing day by day and the unpredictable mutation of the virus strain with extremely dangerous infection levels, CMC's contribution contributes to realizing the goal: Vietnam will win the pandemic, every citizen’s safety is guaranteed, life will soon return to normal. Thereby, impelling socio-economic development in the new normal.

Donating COVID-19 testing equipment to the University Medical Centre of Ho Chi Minh City

On June 10th, CMC Corporation cooperated with the Sống Foundation to donate an automatic Nucleic Acid extractor worth almost 1 billion VND to the University Medical Centre of Ho Chi Minh City. The donation took place at the “CMC supports Vietnam against Covid-19 – Unite to fight” event, held in response to the Government's call for support in epidemic prevention.

The automated Nucleic Acid extractor replaces the previous manual method, reducing testing time and lowering the risk of infection for technicians. Thanks to this device, the local health sector quickly traced cases related to patients suspected of having Covid-19 to cope with the stressful epidemic situation.

At the event, Mr. Duong Anh Duc - Vice Chairman of Ho Chi Minh City People's Committee shared: “In the fight against the Covid-19 epidemic, the People's Committee of Ho Chi Minh City and the hospital appreciate the contribution of CMC Corp to help with rapid testing, giving accurate results, reducing pressure on medical staff in the anti-Covid-19 campaign."

According to Mr. Dang The Tai, General Director of CMC TSSG, CMC donated equipment to the People's Committee of Ho Chi Minh City and the University Medical Centre of Ho Chi Minh City to share the frontline medical team’s burden in fighting the epidemic. CMC hopes this device will contribute to ensuring the safety of medical staff, furthermore, ensuring safety and improving the health of the people in Ho Chi Minh City. Thereby, Ho Chi Minh City will contribute to the country’s overcoming of the pandemic and economic recovery. 


CMC people donate blood to fight the epidemic

The "Safe blood donation - CMC supports Vietnam Against the COVID-19 Pandemic" program took place on June 10 and 11, launched by Mr. Nguyen Trung Chinh - Chairman of the Board of Directors and Chairman of CMC Corp. The Group cooperated with the National Institute of Hematology and Blood Transfusion to implement the program in Hanoi so that employees could join hands alongside doctors and nurses to help patients in the midst of the epidemic. At the end of the program, CMC people donated more than 280 blood units to the National Institute of Hematology and Blood Transfusion.

This noble gesture of the CMC people was done at a time when the whole society is struggling against the epidemic, the blood reserve for treatment and surgery across the country has reached the "red alert", many patient’s lives are hanging by a thread due to this shortage of blood. 

During the blood donation process, requirements and regulations on disease prevention and control were strictly implemented, ensuring the safety of participants at the highest level. In addition to checking body temperatures, washing hands with antiseptic water, wearing medical masks, maintaining a minimum distance of 2-3m, blood donation space and equipment being disinfected, the medical staff was vaccinated against the virus and wore specialized protective gear. The Chairman of CMC also decided to organize a "CMC Blood Donation Day" every year.

Sponsoring smart monitoring equipment for COVID-19 prevention

It is expected that at the end of June, CMC will sponsor a security camera system for quarantine locations in Ha Dong and Thanh Oai districts, Hanoi. Currently, experts are in the design examination phase before proceeding with the installation. The system helps to monitor the entering and leaving of quarantine locations, ensuring safety for epidemic prevention and control. In addition, CMC installed a smart identification solution for the People's Committee of Hanoi to help with the monitoring process during the epidemic as well as to ensure security in the long term. 

“Unite to Fight” is the common spirit of CMC Corp. in the campaign “CMC supports Vietnam against COVID-19 - Unite to Fight”. The campaign has a total value of 6 billion VND and is one of many of the corporation’s activities for the community (CSR). In 2020, CMC also donated 3 billion VND to 3 frontline hospitals in epidemic prevention, including: National Hospital of Tropical Diseases, Bach Mai Hospital (Hanoi), and Can Gio field hospital (HCMC).

Sharing about the campaign's goal, Mr. Nguyen Trung Chinh - Chairman of the Board of Directors and Chairman of CMC Corp. said: "On the corporation’s 28-year journey, in addition to the goal of business development, CMC is committed to sharing difficulties with the community when there are epidemics and natural disasters as well as accompanying the development of the country. The above gestures are the responsibility of CMC to the community in general and employees in particular. Vietnam has overcome three outbreaks with brave spirit and efforts. I believe that Vietnam will continue to overcome this epidemic. The most important thing in any war is the cooperation of all of us. Only by working together with the whole country to fight the epidemic can we work with peace of mind, firmly carry out the set goals, towards an increasingly beautiful and prosperous future."

In addition to social activities, CMC also contributes to realizing the dual goal of anti-epidemic combined with socio-economic maintenance and development by committing to providing essential products and technological solutions to customers.
